And then it was winter...

Not long before Thanksgiving, it got cold very suddenly and Lille saw it's first wintry weather of the season. We've now had our first snow, which is still on the ground and looking lovely. 

Even though this blog is going to be quite short, I did make a point of taking some pictures of our first snow for you and wanted to be sure to share them.

Apologies for not writing recently and constantly being slow to answer e-mails. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I'm sad I won't be watching the Macy's parade, cooking, and within easy phone call distance of the people I care about most. I have a busy weekend of studying ahead, but I will be in touch soon. Oh, hey, it's snowing outside...

Fall break, et quelques autres petites choses

Okay, so maybe not so very small. More like taking some big steps toward solidifying my travel plans for December. Today I got a train pass for France, Germany, and Switzerland - and it looks like I'm definitely going to see Lucinda in Germany at the beginning of the month! I also confirmed my reservation at the Foyer International Etudiantes for Christmas and bought my train ticket to Paris.

La solidarité...?

Not to worry, all is well in Lille. The students are blocking campus today, so I didn't have to go to class and attempt to learn - ironically enough - about labor movements in France.

If you didn't know, there has been a bit of unrest in France.

Life at Université Charles de Gaulle: An update

I've been somewhat derelict in my blog-writing duties lately. The past few weeks probably deserve more than a bunch of pictures of Paris and an angry couple of paragraphs. I realize that this thing is a self-imposed responsibility, but I really do want to keep you all updated on how things are going with me.

Some good news: After pouting for a while about having neither an oven nor kitchen supplies I've come to my senses. What does one do in this situation? No-bake recipes. Duh.

So I bought some breakfast cereal and marshmallows and did what any American girl would do.
